Kirk A. McCullough, M.D.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Kirk A. McCullough, M.D. is an Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Foot/Ankle Surgeon at the Kansas City Orthopedic Institute in Leawood, KS. Following his Orthopedic Surgery residency training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, Dr. McCullough went on to complete a fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, NC, followed by an additional year of fellowship training in Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. Since returning to Kansas City, Dr. McCullough has served as a team physician for multiple organizations in the area including the Kansas City Chiefs (NFL), Sporting KC (MLS), Swope Park Rangers (USL/MLS NextPro), KC Current (NWSL), KC Ballet, and his alma mater St. Thomas Aquinas High School. In addition to this, on a national level he has continued involvement with multiple organizations including the NFL as a member of the Foot and Ankle Subcommittee, U.S. Soccer Network Team Physician, and the AOSSM as both a committee member and Kansas representative for the Council of Delegates.

Dr. McCullough’s current clinical practice includes the treatment of comprehensive knee and shoulder pathology, along with the management of a variety of sports-related and overuse/degenerative conditions of the foot and ankle. Ongoing research and project development interests include technique and product development in the advancement of less invasive surgical techniques, advanced use of Orthobiologics in both operative and non-operative condition management, and improved methods of post-injury/post-surgical patient engagement and management to improve outcomes.
