The Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Clinic of Kansas City is pleased to announce the addition of our Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, Christopher W. Peer, MS., MD. Dr. Peer received his MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine, having earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech as well as a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology. He then went on to an additional two year fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the Laboratory of Chemoprevention at the National Cancer Institute. He completed his Orthopaedic Residency at the University of New Mexico and his Sub-Specialty fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City under the direction of Drs. Jon Browne and Cris Barnthouse. He holds a Subspecialty Certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine issued by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Peer served as the Head Team Orthopaedic Surgeon for the recently #1 Ranked Michigan Tech Huskies, NCAA Division 1 Hockey Team as well as the entire Michigan Tech and Finlandia University athletic programs. During his Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship year (2005-2006 NFL Season), Dr. Peer assisted Drs. Browne and Barnthouse with their Head Team Physician duties with the Kansas City Chiefs. He continued his experience with the NFL from 2006-2012, attending the NFL Combines, Chiefs Summer Training Camps in St. Joseph, MO, as well as providing occasional side-line coverage for out-of-town Kansas City Chiefs games.
Dr. Peer opened his practice in September, 2015 focusing on orthopaedic sports medicine injuries, as well as a wide range of orthopaedic care, including reconstructive surgery and joint arthroplasty of the shoulder and knee.
